Silicone vs TPE Sex Dolls

Key Take-aways

  • TPE skin is more realistic
  • TPE is more affordable
  • TPE is softer
  • TPE is more flexible, allows easier handling of doll
  • Silicone is more sticky than TPE, it feels like modeling clay, but can be fixed with baby powder
  • Silicone dolls can take a hot bath, TPE dolls should not
  • Both materials are hypoallergenic

One of the hardest decisions to make when choosing a sex doll, is the material in which you want your doll. The silicone sex doll technology has been refined over many years. Silicone rubber is a mixture of silicon polymer together with carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) is a relatively new material used in the manufacturing of dolls. This material is less expensive to produce, thus you will find that TPE dolls are also more affordable than those made from silicone. Thermoplastic elastomer is a mixture of plastic and rubber. Every manufacturer uses their own formula, which makes some TPE dolls more durable than others. At, we only offer high quality dolls.

TPE is becoming more and more popular. Probably partially because of the lower price, but also because they are softer to touch than silicone. If you have the money to spend (4000 USD or more), you can go for the silicone dolls. Some doll owners say that silicone dolls can sometime last longer. It is really up to you, what you prefer.

Making your decision

When making a decision on which one to buy, you should think about exactly for what you want to use your doll.
-Do you want to use her only for sex?
-Do you want to take hot baths with your doll?
-Do you want to dress her up in nice clothes?
-What is most important to you, touch or looks?
-How much time would you like to spend with your doll in matters of maintenance?
-How much money are you willing to spend?
These are some of the questions you will have to ask yourself before you decide on which type of doll you should get. To understand a bit more about the characteristics of these materials, we have listed some things of importance. Keep in mind that when comparing TPE with silicone, everyone has their own preferences. Some would prefer silicone while some would say TPE is the best alternative. They both have their pros and cons.

TPE Pros

+ TPE is softer in touch.
+ Material is more elastic which makes the dolls more flexible and can therefor handle more positions.
+ Can retain warmth, but is sensitive to excessive heat.
+ Is cheaper.
+ Hypoallergenic material, which means that it is unlikely to cause allergic reactions.

TPE Cons

– This material is more sensitive to stains from clothes.
– Can be a bit sticky to touch. One way to fix this is to rub baby powder all over your doll.
– TPE is porous. Moisture left inside vaginal and anal cavities over time, will result in growing mold.
– You can not sterilize TPE material which makes it more difficult to clean.

Silicone Pros

+ A silicone doll has the most detailed and realistic vagina and anus of all doll types.
+ Can retain warmth, is less sensitive to heat.
+ Easier to clean, can be sterilized.
+ Material is more resistant to heat, water and stains from clothes.
+ Requires less maintenance than TPE dolls.
+ Hypoallergenic material, same as TPE.

Silicone Cons

– More expensive.
– Can be a bit sticky to touch. One way to fix this is to rub baby powder all over your doll.
– Not as soft as TPE, feels more dense and thick to touch.
– Breasts and buttocks will not woggle when you rock your doll back and forth, as they would with TPE.
